TP-Link’s Neffos Smartphone Brand to Showcase Products at MWC 2017
Barcelona, Spain, February 27, 2017 — Neffos, a smartphone brand recently established by TP-Link, will join this year’s Mobile World Congress.
Neffos marks TP-Link’s journey from merely providing networking products to seamlessly connecting people with each other and to the world around them, hence the new brand’s slogan, “Close to you.”
“Ultimately, we want to build a user-centric smart home ecosystem for our users,” TP-Link president and cofounder Jeffrey Chao explained. “With IoT [Internet of Things] routers as the device and information hub, smartphones as the interface between people and devices, and cloud as the service platform, together with various smart home product solutions, we look forward to providing a more connected lifestyle for users.”
Chao added: “In our smart home ecosystem, we see the smartphone as the most distinctive part. It is the primary interface of human-to-machine interaction. IoT routers connect devices, while smartphones connect people.”
Two of its most recent offerings, the 5-inch Neffos X1 and the 5.5-inch Neffos X1 Max, will be showcased at MWC 2017 from February 27 to March 2 in Barcelona, the mobile capital of the world. They can be found at Booth No. 6A30 at Fira Gran Via.
The former is already available in Cloudy Grey and Sunrise Gold variants across most countries in Western and Eastern Europe, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East. The X1 Max, on the other hand, will hit those markets in the second quarter this year.
Designed for the perfect user experience
Built with the best experience in mind, the metallic back cover of the Neffos X1 and X1 Max has been refined to make it look and feel familiar without losing its structure or character.
Refining it means making the surface dual-curved. This allows users to easily hold and operate the phones with one hand compared to other handsets of the same size.
Coupled with remarkably slim edges of as low as *2.75 millimeters, one of the narrowest in the industry, and you have an ultra-slender body that measures just **7.85 millimeters. That is matched with a chamfer that’s only 0.6-millimeter thin.
The bezels along the sides of the Neffos X1 Series have also been kept narrow and the length of the handsets reduced to give way to a high screen-to-body ratio of 76 percent.
The IPS display renders accurate and vibrant colors; a high contrast ratio of 1,800 to 1 for the X1 Max and 800:1 for the X1; sharp details; excellent brightness levels; and wide viewing angles — perfect for playing graphics-rich games and watching TV shows and movies on the go.
It’s protected from bumps, fingerprints, and smudges by a 2.5D curved-edge glass that makes swiping through screens and navigating the interface feel natural.
The Neffos X1 and X1 Max, which feature a custom Android 6.0 Marshmallow build with over 3,000 improvements, offer the best technology available to those who want to build connections and stay connected wherever they are.
Running the devices is a MediaTek octa-core chipset that is paired with as much as ***4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. For users that need more room for their files and applications, there is a slot for a microSD card with up to 128GB capacity.
Included are dual-band Wi-Fi and support for voice over LTE or VoLTE — in case the users’ respective service providers support it — and multiple LTE frequencies for fast mobile internet where available.
A fingerprint sensor is mounted on the back for added security. This sensor, which also serves as a way to take selfies, unlocks the device with its screen on in as fast as 0.2 seconds. Because of sophisticated algorithms that fine-tune the identification feature over time, the fingerprint reader gets more accurate with each unlock.
The Neffos X1 and X1 Max are fitted with a 13-megapixel rear camera with dual-tone flash, 5-element lens, and backside illumination.
And to help users capture fleeting memories, the main camera likewise features a phase-detection auto-focus of just 0.2 seconds, almost the same as that of an SLR camera. A fast PDAF is in line with Neffos’ desire to come up with smartphones that represent “perfection in 0.2 seconds,” thus making them fit into today’s fast-paced modern lifestyle.
The front bears a 5-megapixel selfie camera that features a wide-angle lens and software that includes a Real-time Beautify mode.
And with a ****3,000mAh battery that supports fast charging like the X1 Max’s, the smartphone can last one full day with moderate usage. That way, users can concentrate on more important tasks at hand.
*X1: 2.95mm edges; X1 Max: 2.75mm edges
**X1: 7.95mm thick; X1 Max: 7.85mm thick
***X1: 3GB of RAM + 32GB of ROM and 2GB of RAM + 16GB of ROM; X1 Max: 4GB of RAM + 64GB of ROM and 3GB of RAM + 32GB of ROM
****2,250mAh for the X1
